Coca-Cola Canada Unveils Cutting-Edge Robotic Warehouse

Coca-Cola Canada Bottling is making a groundbreaking supply chain investment, solidifying its commitment to cutting-edge robotic automation and revolutionizing warehouse operations in Canada. With a significant investment of over $70 million, the company is set to transform its Calgary distribution operations, embracing state-of-the-art robotic technology to meet the ever-evolving demands of customers in Western Canada.

Nestled within the premises of its existing manufacturing facility and distribution center in northeast Calgary, Coke Canada Bottling will construct a cutting-edge, high-density robotic warehouse facility. This innovative project represents a giant departure from the company's long-standing reliance on third-party logistic warehousing services (3PL). In fact, this investment stands as the single largest venture the company has undertaken since its emergence as an independent, family-owned business in 2018.

The new facility will serve a dual purpose, consolidating all local storage within Coke Canada Bottling's Calgary premises while showcasing the company's foray into automation. Equipped with a pioneering automated storage and retrieval system, a new modern sophisticated digital inventory management system, and enhanced dock capacity for its Red Fleet of trucks, the 60,000-square-foot warehouse will accommodate 19,000 pallet locations of beverage products.

The design of the office facilities is meticulously tailored to optimize customer service, bolstering efficiency in product delivery. Additionally, this groundbreaking investment is expected to yield environmental benefits, with an annual reduction of 200 tons of CO2 emissions resulting from decreased product movement within the local market.

Todd Parsons, the visionary CEO of Coke Canada Bottling, underscores the company's dedication to driving sustainable value for customers, consumers, and communities. "Our Mission is to deliver optimism and create a better future," he affirms, "by bringing sustainable value for our customers, consumers, and communities. To achieve this, we are unwavering in our commitment to invest in the growth of our business in Calgary for generations to come." Parsons further emphasizes the crucial role played by the Calgary team in surpassing customer expectations throughout Western Canada.

With the implementation of global best practices and the attainment of self-sufficiency in local operations, the company guarantees an uninterrupted supply of Canadians' favorite beverages, ensuring customer satisfaction for years to come.

Calgary, a rapidly expanding Western Canadian city holds a pivotal position in the company's operations. The manufacturing facility and distribution center will have 400 employees and operate ceaselessly, 24 hours a day, six days a week, catering to a vast customer base of over 4,000 in Southern Alberta. Coke Canada Bottling is injecting an impressive $160 million into the local economy through collaborations with suppliers and partners, thereby stimulating economic growth and fostering a thriving business ecosystem in the region.
